Special Services
Baptisms
Our journey of faith begins with Baptism (also known as Christening). Baptism is a declaration of faith, a celebration of becoming part of God's family, and a commitment to following Jesus Christ. Both adults and children can be baptised. We welcome those of any age who seek baptism.
If you have been baptised already, and want to say "yes" to everything that happened at baptism, and to make a declaration of commitment to Jesus Christ as an older person, then we would be pleased to explore Confirmation or Affirmation of Baptism with you. These are services which enable you to mark the progression of your faith if you were baptised as an infant, or if you have returned to church after time away and want to restate your Christian commitment.
If you are interested in Baptism or Confirmation, or indeed an Affirmation of Faith please contact Rev Diana to discuss further.
Weddings
If you are planning to get married, many congratulations!
St Margaret's has been a special place for many couples who have exchanged vows. Marriage in the Scottish Episcopal Church is open to all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender. We also offer services of blessing for couples who have had a civil ceremony elsewhere; and services for the renewal of marriage vows.

If you are interested in a wedding, blessing or renewal of vows in Church, then please do get in touch to discuss your plans. We would love to hear from you.

There are certain civil regulations as to what must be included in a church wedding, to ensure that the marriage complies with UK law. We are very happy to advise on this.
A wedding is as unique as the couple being married. Our marriage liturgy is flexible, and we will be glad to work with you to create a liturgy which is personal and appropriate to your values and story.
Funerals
A funeral, like any farewell, can be very sad and difficult, but a Christian funeral is also marked by hope and continued life in Jesus Christ as we give those we have loved into God’s care. If you have lost a loved one, please don’t hesitate to contact our Priest, who can help you with immediate practicalities as well as offering long-term support.
A funeral can happen in the church before the committal at the crematorium, or cemetery. Memorial services after a funeral can also take place in the church. We also have church halls available for hire for a wake or other occasions. If cost is a worry, please do not allow this to be a barrier - St Margaret's exists to serve the local community, and we can help you through the options with a Funeral Director. Please contact us to see how we can help.
